i think harry reid is a difficult position. he wants obviously something to move forward that helps address part of the problem and i think if you look at 2014 and you look at the midterm elections, look at key states where democrats have to defend, red states, alaska, west virginia is an open seat, arkansas, these are rural states where the democrats have a different perspective on gun rights and have a better relationship, if you will, with the nra. that being said, i think everyone has come to terms that something needs to be done and the question is what can be done, what should be done, then also, what can pass not just the senate, by the way, but also the house. that's why i think you are seeing this movement towards not universal background checks. i personally don't like that term because i think it exaggerates what the reality is. we're talking about criminal background checks, strengthening what is already in place so that it's fair and balanced for everyone. >> one thing, though, with the senate and dianne feinstein
